Jasin Ferati gave himself the best present for his 16th birthday. The Swiss rookie won all the races at the German Electric Kart Championship (DEKM) in Genk, Belgium, and can once again become champion under his own steam. Taking into account the strike results, only 13 points separate him from German favorite Luka Wlömer before the final two events.
Jasin Ferati: "Since second place in Kerpen, I know that I can win. Now I'm delighted that I was able to put it into practice. But I wouldn't have thought it possible that I would be in front from the first practice session to the last race. It was an incredible weekend, I can't even describe how I feel."
A novelty in the DEKM
Ferati is the first driver in the still young history of the world's first electric kart championship, in which identical Rotax Thunder e-karts are used, to win all four races of a weekend. He missed out on the points maximum as second in the first qualifying session behind Wlömer by just 33 thousandths of a second.
After five successful days on race tracks in France and Belgium, Ferati can now enjoy some well-deserved vacation days before things get more serious in his professional life as well. The real highlight of the 2019 karting season will then follow in Finland at the beginning of September with the World Championship in the OK category. The decision in the DEKM will be made at the beginning and end of October in Ampfing (D) and as part of the Rotax World Final in Sarno near Naples.
