Kart: The favorites prevail

NO BLOOD OF SM LEADERS In two categories, the final of the Karting Championship remained exciting until the finish line. In the end, however, all those who came to Lignières as leaders kept their noses in front. In the X30 Challenge Switzerland, three drivers had a chance of winning the title before the final. Start of the final run of the X30 Challenge: Three-time winner Kilian Streit (316) in front of Danny Buntschu (310), who dropped back.

In the X30 Challenge Switzerland, three riders had a chance of winning the title before the final. Savio Moccia had the best starting position with a ten-point lead over Rafael Aguiar and 29 over Léna Bühler. But it turned into a nail-biter for the 17-year-old from Lyss. Moccia did not get beyond 6th place in either of the two heats. And in the final, too, he crossed the finish line only in eighth place.

But because Aguiar (8th, 5th and 5th place) and Bühler (5th, 2nd and 2nd place) did not have the perfect weekend either, a performance without a podium was enough for Moccia to take the title with a four-point lead over Aguiar and nine points over Bühler. The clear dominator in this class was Kilian Streit. The Bernese won all three races but had nothing to do with the outcome of the championship because he had only competed in Château Gaillard before Lignières.

Léna Bühler was on the podium as winner in the first three races of the season. In the championship, however, she was beaten in the end by Rafael Aguiar (2nd, left) and the new champion Savio Moccia (right).

Decision in the final run
The decision in the OK Junior was also very close. Especially because the two title rivals Elia Sperandio and Sebastian Kraft collided with each other in the second heat. While Sperandio was unable to continue, Kraft finished the race in sixth place. A ten-second penalty threw him back to ninth place. A decision Kraft could not understand: "Sure we touched each other out of turn 2, but I can't disappear into thin air."

Before the decisive final run, Sperandio had 326 points on his account, Kraft 321. It was already obvious in the first laps that the 14-year-old from Mels SG didn't have the speed to compete at the top. His engine was not running smoothly, so more than 7th place was not possible. Kraft should have won under these circumstances, but had to settle for 4th place behind Ekaterina Lüscher. Victory in the final heat went to Hugo Giraud, who thus successfully defended his third place overall.

Mike Müller and Isabelle von Lerber congratulate each other on the run-out lap. Double victory for the Berner Kart Racing Club and for Swiss Hutless.

All Müller or what?
The decisions in the other three categories were somewhat less suspenseful. In the KZ2 class of the switch karts, Mike Müller already closed the bag after the first preliminary heat. The driver from the Berner Kart Racing Club was in an unassailable lead after second place in the first heat. But the new KZ2 champion was no match for the Lignières runner-up, namesake Sven Müller. Müller won all three races and thus improved to 8th place in the championship.

It was the third Swiss karting title for Mike Müller. In the Minis, in the Juniors and now in KZ2, he always won it in the second year. The triumph for the Berner Kart Racing Club and Swiss Hutless was completed by Isabelle von Lerber. The fast lady secured the vice championship ahead of Alvaro thanks to two second and one third place.

Näscher and Shaw manage their lead
In the OC Senior, Pascal von Allmen also left no stone unturned in Lignières. The Kart Republic driver arrived with a 62-point lead over Patrick Näscher and managed to keep it under control. With a win in the first heat, he also made everything clear already in the morning. Näscher, who completed one race less than the new champion over the season, consoled himself with a commanding victory in the final race.

Pascal von Allmen drove to the title in the OK Senior.

In the youngsters' race, Roy Alan Shaw had extended his lead over his only remaining rival Elia Pappacena to 50 points after the first heat, after the latter conceded a zero due to a defective cable. After finishing third behind Tim Ziegler in the second race, the Valais native also had his first title in the bag.

For Pappacena, the battle for the runner-up spot was still close. Because Loris Achermann won all three races and also collected the three bonus points for the fastest lap, he closed the gap to Pappacena to within one point.
