Jo Siffert: Lasting memory on a smaller scale 🎥
NEW EXHIBITION LOCALITY Following the public success of last year's anniversary exhibition in memory of Jo Siffert, who died in 1971, there is now a new memorial room in memory of the legendary Freiburg native.
With an exhibition held for nine months in Givisiez just outside Fribourg and various commemorative events - such as the ceremony at the Nicoli R. garage in the presence of Marcel Fässler shown in the video - the year 2021 was marked by the memory of racing driver Jo Siffert, who died 50 years ago.
Freiburg garage with Siffert reference
More than 8000 visitors of all ages came to Givisiez for this exhibition. Numerous media paid tribute to the exemplary career of the Fribourg native, who died in an accident in 1971 and rose from nothing to become Switzerland's best ambassador abroad.
Due to this enthusiasm and driven by the will to keep the memory of Jo Siffert alive, the existing committee has decided to continue to commemorate him in a different setting and sense. Thus, the "Espace Jo Siffert" has now been created in his honor at the Garage Nicoli R. Sà rl in Villars-sur-Glâne, the site of Siffert's second garage at the time.
Changing attractions
This return to the roots and the various attractions that change frequently, the different racing cars that are exhibited depending on the theme and with a racing simulator installed amidst relics, as well as the new Siffert watch collection, are intended to continue to commemorate the legendary motor sportsman.
Public access will be free of charge from the coming week. More information about the location, opening hours and regular attractions will be provided by the specially created homepage in the next few days.
