Jasin Ferati: All beginnings are difficult 🎥

UNFULFILLED EXPECTATIONS Disappointment for Jasin Ferati at the Formula 4 premiere in Misano. The driver from Winterthur did not manage more than three midfield positions at the opening round of the Italian championship. The Jenzer Motorsport staff assigned to Formula 4 Italia and their three drivers celebrated August 1 in the Misano paddock.

Only two points in the rookie standings are on Jasin Ferati's account after the first race event. He failed to make the targeted leap into the top 10 of the overall standings in the Italian Formula 4 Championship at the premiere in the heat of Misano, finishing 11th, 14th and 16th.

Nevertheless, the Winterthur native draws a positive balance.

Jasin Ferati: "I learned a lot this weekend. I was a bit too cautious in practice and our tactics didn't work out in qualifying. That put me in a difficult starting position. In terms of speed, though, I was in good shape, and the many successful overtaking maneuvers were a real boost."

Heat battle
The three Misano races, each lasting 30 minutes and one lap, were a litmus test for the excellently staffed starting field with 22 drivers from 14 nations at 34 degrees Celsius. The junior from the Jenzer Motorsport team had a rollercoaster of emotions.

In the first heat, Ferati was held up for too long by Poland's Mateusz Kaprzyk. It was only in the second-last corner that he made the decisive attack that took him from 17th on the grid to 14th.

In the midfield, too, there is a fight for every position. Ferati Jasin was involved in a couple of nice battles with the light blue Jenzer car.

Two rookie points for the birthday
On the other hand, last year's winner of the German Electric Kart Championship was wide awake and aggressive on his 17th birthday on Sunday morning. With a lightning start and maneuvers worth seeing, he quickly fought his way into the top 10.

However, a severe braking incident cost him several positions again. Thanks to an impressive race to catch up, he finally crossed the finish line in eleventh place. That gave him his first two points in the rookie standings, but not the birthday present he had longed for.

Jasin Ferati now knows where he and his race engineer need to pull the lever at the next race.

Mishap survived with luck
All the greater was his motivation for the third race, which he wanted to start in 16th place like the previous one, but was unable to do so. The Jenzer driver released the clutch a little too quickly, stalling the engine in the process, and had to set off in last place.

Jasin Ferati: "I was in a state of shock and glad that everyone was able to get out of the way. As a result, it took me a long time to regain my concentration and find the right racing rhythm. I'll definitely do better next time."

In the final phase, the Swiss finally remembered his qualities, turned faster and faster laps, fought his way past six competitors and was classified as 16th.

Two podium places for Jenzer junior from Romania
While the Italians Gabriele Mini, Andrea Rosso and Francesco Pizzi each won one race, Jenzer Motorsport was able to celebrate two podium finishes for its best junior in the three-car team.

Filip Ugran climbed the podium twice as the fastest of the three Jenzer juniors - wearing a mask, of course, in keeping with the times (Photos: ACI Sport, Jenzer).

Romanian Filip Ugran finished the first race in third place and the second just 1.33 seconds behind. With a fourth place in the final race Ugran collected so many points that he left Misano in third place in the intermediate championship standings. The leader is Pizzi (58 points) ahead of Mini (55), Ugran (45) and Rosso (29).

The next three races will be held in Imola on the last weekend of August.

The highlights from Race 1 in Misano (with the wrong year 2019!) produced by ACI Sport show how tough Formula 4 is and how the green Jenzer car was steered to third place by Filip Ugran.
