Great sound, good looks: The Elantra TCR is presented in an attractive way in the short video with scenes from Gabriele Tarquini's test drives.
The official unveiling took place a few days ago at Auto China 2020 in Beijing. The new TCR-specification touring car expands the model range with the highly successful i30 N TCR and Veloster N TCR, which are offered to customer teams.
Andrea Adamo, Team Director Hyundai Motorsport: "After three months of testing and development work, I am very happy to present the Elantra N TCR. The first public presentation in China shows our global plans for the cars to strengthen Hyundai Motorsport in racing series around the world."
In the beginning there was a piece of paper
Hyundai Customer Racing created the Elantra N TCR from a blank sheet of paper. The development department took full advantage of the car's stable high-performance chassis and sedan shape to optimize the design.

Like all representatives of this category, the Elantra N TCR has front-wheel drive. The power source is a two-liter engine with turbocharger, which is derived from the new base engine from the Hyundai production car family. The car is equipped with the same six-speed gearbox with paddle shifters as the other two TCR models, the i30 N and Veloster.
In master hands
In just three months, the Elantra N TCR was tested on European racetracks for its sprint and endurance suitability. Several drivers were involved, who then gave their verdict. Among them was the 2018 WTCR champion.
Gabriele Tarquini: "For me as a driver, the Elantra N TCR already felt very good during the first tests. There are some small changes compared to the previous cars that the customer teams and drivers will really appreciate, such as improvements to the steering."
Many successes worldwide
In 2019, Hyundai teams won the championships in eight different series. The title win in the FIA WTCR with Hungarian Norbert Michelisz and in the ADAC TCR Germany with German Max Hesse in an i30 N TCR as well as in the North American IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge with the Veloster N TCR were outstanding.
Andrea Adamo: "We have made great progress with different drivers in the development of the chassis in order to create a strong overall package for our customers. This should enable Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing to achieve further success in TCR racing."
