The races of the Hyraze League (from Hydrogen for hydrogen) are held with 800 hp hydrogen cars. The energy for the emission-free drive is supplied by green hydrogen, which is converted into electricity for the four electric motors in the two fuel cells of the racing cars.

Reduced fine dust pollution
The brake dust produced does not escape uncontrolled into the environment, but is collected in the vehicle and later disposed of in an environmentally neutral manner.

Special tires developed from rapidly renewable raw materials also ensure that tire wear is minimized. Together with a strictly limited number of tires, particulate matter pollution is significantly reduced, the project partners promise.

The steer-by-wire system implemented in the vehicle takes over steering control using purely electronic impulses. The mechanical connection via the steering column is eliminated.

Virtual and real motorsport combined
The teams have two drivers for each car - one for the real competition races and one who takes part in the e-sport events that also count towards the championship. The results of both races flow equally into the championship standings.

In the end, one team will be crowned the overall winner of both disciplines. While simracing and Esports will continue to flourish in their own right, this interdisciplinary championship represents an absolute novelty in motorsport.

Whether the Hyraze League cars will already be competing on the race track in three years' time remains to be seen. At least that is the goal of the initiators.

No aero competition
Part of the overall concept is also the conscious decision not to use aerodynamic downforce. This is intended to guarantee more excitement and overtaking maneuvers on the track.

The lack of downforce ensures a longer braking distance, which in addition to the sporty aspect benefits above all optimized energy recovery through recuperation. The energy collected during braking is stored for a short time in compact high-performance battery cells.

The body parts are made of a natural fiber composite material and can be freely designed by the teams according to their ideas. This ensures that everyone can represent their individual design language and body shape, regardless of a series reference.

Clear rules in the field of aerodynamics ensure that no cost-intensive aerodynamics competition arises despite free body design.

The body comes without big aerodynamic frills.

Multiple partners
Under the outer skin, the technology of the first vehicle generation is essentially based on unit components developed by the technology partners involved in the project, first and foremost Schaeffler and the engineering service provider and vehicle developer HWA.

The ADAC, Dekra, the German Motorsport Association (DMSB) and the e-sports association WESA ("World eSports Association") are also behind the idea. (ampnet/jri)
