On June 9/10, the start of the Swiss Mountain Championship 2018 will take place in Hemberg. A popular race with spectators and riders.
According to the announcement, the registration deadline for the drivers was Monday, May 7. The provisional list of participants includes everything that has rank and name in Switzerland.
Strong field with 20 places still available
With defending champion Marcel Steiner (LobArt-Mugen), former champion Eric Berguerand, Thomas Amweg, Grégoire Siggen (all Lola) and Robin Faustini (Reynard K01), there are five drivers on big three-liter race cars with ambitions for podium places in the day's classification.
In the touring cars, the list is headed by Ronnie Bratschi, Roger Schnellmann, Thomas Kessler (all Mitsubishi Evo VIII), Frédéric Neff (Porsche GT3 R), Romeo Nüssli (Ford Escort Cosworth), Simon Wüthrich (VW Golf Turbo) and local hero Michael Widmer (Mitsubishi Mirage Proto).
"We have a very pleasing starting field. Unfortunately, there are simply still about 20 cars missing to relieve our budget," says race director Christian Müller, explaining why he extended the entry deadline anyway.
So anyone who registers and pays in online via the organizer's homepage or directly via race-data.ch by Monday (midnight), May 14, 2018, will be actively involved as a driver in the first Swiss mountain race of the year. Late registrations cannot be accepted.
