Hemberg: No hill climb with supermotos

Because of "not solvable date collisions", it says in the press release of the association Bergrennen Hemberg, the OC had to come back to its decision. It was planned that the SAM (Swiss Car and Motorcycle Association) would use the race track from Schwandsbrugg up to the village of Hemberg for a Supermoto Hillclimb on the same weekend of June 9/10.
It would have been a Swiss premiere. As the preparations progressed, it had become apparent that scheduling conflicts with other supermoto events could not be resolved. One of them is the Supermoto Hoch-Ybrig SZ.
However, competition of the same race series on the same weekend is out of the question for the OC of the automobile mountain race. If the club does something, then do it properly.
The far planned Supermoto Hillclimb would not have been able to meet this demand under the mentioned conditions. All energies are now used for the organization of the usual Hillclimb Hemberg.
Reduction to the essentials also at Gurnigel
For many racers on four big wheels, this cancellation - or a possible postponement to 2019 - is not inconvenient. A number of people told AutoSprintCH that they would like the organizers of the Swiss hillclimb races to concentrate on the essentials again - namely motor racing. After all, they are the ones who pay the highest entry fees and race for points in the Swiss hillclimb championship.
Therefore, the association Bergrennen Gurnigel has also reduced its supporting program after the incidents of last year practically to zero. Both events were affected by serious accidents during demonstration runs in 2017.
The Bernese hope that this will result in continued lively participation on the part of the active participants and the spectators. The Toggenburgers are also dependent on both to maintain their mountain race, which was revived six years ago.
