The world held its breath when Romain Grosjean extricated himself from the burning wreckage of his Haas car in Bahrain last November. The 35-year-old Geneva native with a French license was lucky to only suffer severe burns to his hands in the accident.
Despite his valiant attempts to recover in time for the final two races of the season, Grosjean was not allowed to take part in them. This seemed to end his Formula 1 career after 179 starts and ten podiums.
Serious preparation
After the accident, however, Toto Wolff promised him that the crash would not remain the last chapter in his Formula 1 career. The Mercedes GP boss kept his word and invited the Franco-Swiss to the Mercedes F1 headquarters in Brackley on March 30 for a seat adjustment.
There he also prepared in the simulator for a test organized especially for him. This will take place on June 29 at Grosjean's home track in Le Castellet - exactly seven months to the day after his accident. On Sunday, June 27, he will also complete a few demo laps as part of the French GP.

Unique experience in the world champion car
The Mercedes-AMG W10 EQ Power+ that Romain Grosjean will drive in France scored 15 wins, ten pole positions and nine fastest race laps in the 2019 season. In addition, Lewis Hamilton won the drivers' world championship with it and the team clinched the title in the constructors' championship.
Romain Grosjean: "I'm really looking forward to getting back into an F1 car! This is a special opportunity for me and it will be a unique experience to drive a world champion Mercedes. I'm very grateful to Mercedes F1 and Toto for this opportunity."
With the IndyCars to Indianapolis
This season, Romain Grosjean will be competing for Dale Coyne Racing with RWR in the IndyCar Series. However, not on oval tracks, but only on street circuits and conventional circuits.
The rookie finished the first two races in Alabama and St. Petersburg in the good midfield. The next race will be held on May 15 at the Indianapolis GP Circuit.
