Geneva 2019: Skoda Fabia R5 in top shape for 2019

Homologation takes place in the second quarter
The new version of the Fabia R5 is scheduled to be homologated by the FIA in the second quarter of 2019. The vehicle will then be delivered to customer teams. Last year, Skoda won the team classification in the WRC 2 category of the World Rally Championship and also occupied the top three positions in the drivers' and co-drivers' standings.
Victories in international championships
Skoda privateers won the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship the Middle East Rally Championship the South America Rally Championship and the African Rally Championship Africa, as well as 17 other national championship titles. By the end of last year, Skoda Motorsport had sold 252 R5 cars, with 80 sold in 2018 alone. Prices for the new model have not yet been set.

This season, Skoda will enter two vehicles in selected rounds of the World Rally Championship. Finnish junior drivers Kalle Rovanperä and co-driver Jonne Halttunen will compete in the WRC-2 Pro category. Reigning WRC-2 champions Jan Kopecký and Pavel Dresler will also be competing in individual WRC rounds. In addition, the two will try to defend their title in the domestic championship.
