Simona de Silvestro knows Formula E inside out. In 2015/16 she completed a full Formula E season with Andretti Autosport, but failed to score any points. Finishing ninth in Long Beach, she was the first and so far only woman to score points in Formula E.
Recently, the Vaud native, who otherwise races in the Australian Supercars Championship, has become known as an expert for the new Swiss TV channel MySports.
First test drive in Saudi Arabia
In the Monaco-based Venturi Formula E team, Simona will take an active role in preparing for the races of the upcoming fifth season with the new Gen2 race cars. Primarily, she will be doing simulator work. On December 16, the day after the first race in Ad Diriyah in Saudi Arabia, she will take part in the official test drives of all teams.
Nico Müller will also be testing there with Audi Sport Team ABT. At the first test in Morocco in the spring, the man from Berne was the absolute fastest with the Audi e-tron FE04. And the second woman to test at Mahindra will be the Briton Katherine Legge.
Simona de Silvestro: "I'm delighted to be returning to Formula E as a driver in this way. I've always followed her development closely and can't wait to drive the Gen2 car. The next twelve months with the parallel program in Australia and Formula E will be pretty intense for me."
With Mortara, Massa and Susie Wolff
The team's president is the Monegasque Gildo Pastor. The team manager is former DTM driver and Williams F1 test driver Susie Wolff, who is also the wife of Mercedes GP team boss Toto Wolff.
The regular drivers in the Venturi Formula E team are Edoardo Mortara from Geneva (as in 2017/18) and former GP driver Felipe Massa.
