While other racing series have not even secured their emergency program for the current year, the organizers of Formula E can already announce the provisional calendar for the 2020/21 season following confirmation by the FIA World Motor Sport Council.
From January to July
For the first time, the electric racing series will have the official title of a world championship and will be held within a calendar year rather than over several years.
It is scheduled to begin on January 16 in Santiago de Chile and end on July 24/25 with two races in London.
Hoping for easing
Some races in the cities listed fell victim to the coronavirus pandemic this year. This includes Seoul in South Korea, where the Formula E premiere had to be postponed by a year. It remains to be seen whether the health situation will have normalized to such an extent that such events will be possible again in the other cities.
Further measures
Alongside the announcement of the calendar, the World Motor Sport Council of the International Automobile Federation approved changes to the sporting regulations to reflect Formula E's world championship status. In addition, measures were agreed to strengthen economic, social and environmental sustainability efforts.
Further details of the above decisions will be announced by the FIA and Formula E in due course.
