One brand is leaving, the other is coming. Renault will leave FIA Formula E at the end of the 2017/2018 season in July next year. After that, the French car manufacturer will concentrate on Formula 1 motorsport.
Team Renault e.dams is a founding member of Formula E. In the first three years, the French team won the world championship title three times in a row. Sébastien Buemi added the drivers' title in 2015/16.

Nissan will take Renault's place in the following 2018/19 season. Nissan will be the first Japanese manufacturer in the FIA Formula E. The steadily growing racing series offers a globally visible platform to bring the corporate vision of Nissan Intelligent Mobility closer to a new generation of motorsport fans, Nissan explains.
As in the production of series vehicles, the Renault Alliance partner should and will benefit from the experience of the French. It is quite possible that the team will later be called Nissan e.dams and will continue to field Sébastien Buemi and Nicolas Prost or a Japanese driver.
