As a result of the ongoing health emergency in Italy and in accordance with the provisions of the ministerial decree on measures to combat and contain the spread of the coronavirus in the country, which also includes sporting events with spectators in close proximity, it is no longer possible to host the Rome E-Prix on April 4. This was announced by the Formula E organization in a statement.
Postponement under review
In agreement with the relevant authorities in Rome and together with the FIA and the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI), the Formula E organization is working closely with the championship partners and stakeholders to examine and evaluate options for postponing the Rome E-Prix to a later date. However, this would only be an option once the restrictions have been lifted.
Already two races less
Due to the spread of the coronavirus, the Formula E race in Sanya (China) scheduled for March 21 was already canceled a few weeks ago. The Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, the fourth round of the 2020 Formula 1 World Championship, scheduled for the weekend of April 17-19, was also canceled.
