Four years, five months and 25 days after the first race of the FIA Formula E Championship in Beijing in September 2014, the 50th race in the history of the global championship for electric racing cars will start in Hong Kong on Sunday. So far, 65 drivers have taken part in the races in 20 cities. Ten of them have won at least once.
Always a different winner
The 49th race on the shortened GP circuit in Mexico City on February 16 went down in history as one of the most dramatic ever. This year's regulations, which force the drivers to optimize their energy levels in order to cover the full distance with the new Gen2 race cars without changing vehicles, were partly responsible for this.
Several drivers failed to do so in Mexico. Audi driver Lucas di Grassi, for example, caught Pascal Wehrlein, who was leading the field, in the de-energized Mahindra before the finish line. The Brazilian was the fourth different winner of the fourth Formula E season of 2018/19.
Nissan drivers want revenge
Nissan drivers Sébastien Buemi and Oliver Roland were in second and fourth place until shortly before the end of the race, when they dropped to the back of the field with only two percent energy left.
In the following short interview on Tuesday at the Nissan stand at the Geneva Motor Show, the Vaud native looks ahead to the upcoming anniversary race.

For once, the 50th race will be held on a Sunday and will last 45 minutes plus one lap on the 1860-meter short circuit through the streets of Hong Kong's Central Harbourfront. The financial district with its numerous skyscrapers, the iconic Ferris wheel and City Hall form a spectacular backdrop.
