The TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team missed out on a points finish in the race at the Mexico City E-Prix after securing pole position for the first time. With the fastest lap in the Super Pole, German André Lotterer secured first place on the grid. That means three points for the drivers' championship.

Drive-through penalty for Neel Jani
In the second Porsche 99X Electric with starting number 18, Neel Jani finished the race in 14th place. The Swiss driver started the race from 14th on the grid after qualifying and made up one place in the early stages before dropping back after a drive-through penalty for a technical infringement.

Neel Jani: "The start actually went well, although I was on the dirty side. After that, I was involved in numerous duels and was hit several times at the front and rear. It's a shame that I was then handed a drive-through penalty."

First points for Sébastien Buemi
After three non-finishes, Sébastien Buemi scored his first points in the current championship. The Frenchman crossed the finish line 6.181 seconds behind winner Mitch Evans from New Zealand. Portuguese driver Antonio Félix Da Costa finished in between. Another Swiss driver, Edoardo Mortara, made it into the top 10. The Italian-Swiss dual national finished eighth with the Rokit Venturi Racing team. Neel Jani and Nico Müller Geox with Dragon Racing, who had to retire early from the race in sixth place after an accident, missed out on the points.

Mitch Evans takes the overall lead
It was Mitch Evans' second victory in the racing series for electric racing cars. The 25-year-old thus took the lead in the overall standings. Sébastien Buemi finished 13th overall, directly behind last year's champion Jean-Eric Vergne. The Frenchman finished the race in Mexico in fourth place behind the Swiss driver. The next round of the FIA Formula E will take place in Marrakesh on the weekend of February 28 and 29, 2020
