Sébastien Buemi is no longer the only Formula E winner from Switzerland. Edoardo Mortara crossed the finish line in Hong Kong in his Venturi "only" in second place, but subsequently moved up to first place.
Hours after the race, the race organizers imposed a five-second time penalty on the supposed winner Sam Bird because the Briton had touched André Lotterer's DS Techeetah from behind shortly before the end. With his first victory in sight, the German-Belgian rolled out of the race with a puncture and a good deal of anger in his belly, which he also expressed in various interviews afterwards
Hong Kong is a good place to be
This was Edoardo Mortara's first triumph in his second Formula E season. Last year, the Geneva native already shone with a second-place finish on his debut in Hong Kong.
Edoardo Mortara: "A fantastic result. We didn't quite have the speed of Lotterer and Bird in the race, but this result is now another reward for the Venturi team after we had already proven our upward trend with fourth place in Chile and third in Mexico. This success is the best motivation for the next races."

Fight for the top of the table
Second place in Hong Kong went to Mexico winner Lucas di Grassi in the Audi e-tron FE05 and in third place Robin Frjins belatedly clinched his second podium with Envision Virgin Racing. His teammate Sam Bird slipped to sixth position due to the penalty but still takes the championship lead after five rounds. Jérôme d'Ambrosio (Mahindra) lost the top spot in the standings due to his early retirement but is only one point behind. Di Grassi and Mortara follow in third place, another point behind.
Another zero for Buemi
For Sébastien Buemi, nothing is lost in the title fight yet. However, the second zero in a row drops him to 13th position in the interim standings (15 points).
While his teammate Oliver Rowland led the race from second position after a brilliant start, but retired for the fourth consecutive time, the Vaudois advanced to sixth place. With the prospect of good points, Buemi retired with suspension damage to his Nissan.
