The summary of the three races shows right at the beginning the start accident of Joshua Dufek and the somersault of Léna Bühler, furthermore the two winning rides of Filip Ugran.
As the second Spanish event in Le Castellet took place conveniently before the next event of the Italian Formula 4 Championship in Imola, on which Jenzer Motorsport will be focusing in 2020, the team from Lyss seized this training opportunity under competitive conditions. Filip Ugran was the standout in the field of 21 participants.
Two wins and a second place
The Romanian won the first race over 28 minutes from pole position. He started the second race in fifth place, but was in the lead after just a few corners and never relinquished it. In the final sprint over 21 minutes, only the Dane Oliver Goethe finished ahead of the fast Jenzer junior.
Newcomer Francesco Simonazzi also made his mark straight away. After finishing the first race in fourth place, the Italian climbed onto the podium in third place after the second, from where two Jenzer Juniors thus beckoned. In the third race, Simonazzi finished eighth.
Jasin Ferati sniffs the podium
As the third driver from the Jenzer team, Jasin Ferati realized his best results to date in the race car with places 5 and 6. With seventh place in qualifying, the 17-year-old from Winterthur created a good starting position for the first two races on the extremely hot Circuit Paul Ricard.
As on the previous day, Ferati finished sixth in Sunday morning's second sprint, three seconds behind winning teammate Felipe Ugran, but moved up one position due to a penalty against Lorenzo Fluxa.
The Spaniard had fended off Ferati's attack on third place on the last lap with a dangerous move from which the next two chasers benefited. This cost the Swiss a possible podium finish.
As much as this annoyed him, he was happy about the improved performance compared to the start of the season.
Jasin Ferati: "After I had already overtaken my old karting rival Fluxa in the final of the first race, he wanted to prevent this by all means in the second. The field of competitors is perhaps not quite as strong as in Italy, but the top 10 are at a high level and fighting for every position. The fact that I still managed many overtaking maneuvers makes me very happy."
This was partly due to a poor starting position and an early slip in the final third race, in which Ferati was able to improve from 19th to 13th place.
Rollover by Léna Bühler
The two drivers competing in the Spanish F4 Championship, Joshua Dufek and Léna Bühler, retired in the first race due to accidents. The 22-year-old from Vaud fought for a good eighth position until the launch with subsequent rollover.
In the other races, Dufek scored a fifth and sixth place, while Léna Bühler finished 14th and 17th in her second Formula 4 race weekend, gaining valuable experience in the process.
