With two class wins and the overall victory of the entire field, which included the Remus Formula 3 Cup and the Italian F2 Trophy, Sandro Zeller bid farewell in Mugello as a worthy champion of this private racing series. Even before that, the defending champion from Oetwil am See had taken first place in each of eight of the total of 14 races at seven different race tracks in Europe.

His toughest opponent was Philipp Regensberger, who stayed hot on his heels until the very end with three race wins and eight further podium finishes. At the finale in Mugello, however, the young Bavarian had to watch out due to irreparable engine damage.

At the start of the season, the son of Swiss Formula 3 doyen Jo Zeller was still driving and winning at Hockenheim in his Dallara F308-Mercedes. Zeller jr. then switched to a Dallara F306-VW, with which he also scored points in the Remus Formula 3 Trophy for older models from 1992 to 2007.

As in the previous year, Sandro Zeller was the measure of all things. With the switch from the Dallara F308-Mercedes to the older type F306-VW, the Zurich driver was looking for a new challenge, which he mastered brilliantly.

As a result, Sandro Zeller not only secured overall victory in the 2017 Remus Formula 3 Cup, but also in the Trophy and the Middle European Formula 3 Cup. And along the way, he won the Swiss Formula 3 Cup organized by Franz Wöss ahead of Kurt Böhlen and Michael Tobler.

In addition to several podium finishes, rain specialist Böhlen shone with victory in the wet second race at Spa. There, behind two drivers from the British Formula 3, the man from Berne even took third place overall among 34 competitors.

The overall victory in the Formula Renault classification also went to Switzerland. Thomas Aregger was not beaten in this sub-ranking even when up to eight opponents were on the grid, depending on the host country.
