Tatiana Calderon takes over from German Maximilian Günther at BWT Arden.

After several seasons in Formula 3 and GP3, most recently in 2018 with Jenzer Motorsport from Lyss, Tatiana Calderon is moving to the second-highest formula class. In FIA Formula 2, the soon-to-be 26-year-old Colombian will be the first woman ever to do so. Her team is BWT Arden Motorsport from England, where she already raced in GP3 in 2016.

Andreas Jenzer: "Tatiana always said that she wanted to change now. There was still an open door for her with us. But only if all the strings were broken to move up to Formula 2."

Continue with Alfa Romeo Racing?
Arden's main sponsor is BWT. The second driver is GP3 champion Anthoine Hubert from France. Calderon will be primarily measured against him.

It has not yet been communicated whether Calderon will remain associated with Sauber F1 or now Alfa Romeo Racing. Calderon made headlines in the fall of 2018 with test drives in a current C37.

Points would be a success
In GP3, the South American regularly finished in the points. But it never worked out with a hoped-for podium finish.

Resolute woman. With a lot of money from Mexico, Tatiana Calderon wants to make her way into the top class via Formula 2.

What do you think Andreas Jenzer can do in Formula 2?

Andreas Jenzer: "She did well in the tests in Abu Dhabi. But that doesn't mean anything for an official practice or race. I think she can do a good job if Arden provides her with the appropriate car. If she finishes in the points, that would already be a success. She has very good people around her now so I imagine she can do that."

The Formula 2 season will start at the end of March at the Bahrain GP. Louis Delétraz is the only Swiss driver confirmed at Carlin so far.
