For Alfa Romeo, the presentation of the C38 marks its official return to Formula 1 after no less than 34 years.

Alfa Romeo
The highly motivated driver duo Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi unveiled the new Alfa Romeo car.

Just in time for the start of testing in Barcelona, the driver duo Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Räikkönen unveil the car. The racing team, which last season still competed as the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team, was renamed for the new season - Sauber dropped from the team name (AutoSprintCH reported).

Design and name almost as before
Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi will start the year with a familiar design and name: The Sauber design from last year remains, albeit slightly modified. The chassis name also remains the same as in Sauber times: in 2019 the car will be called the C38. The Sauber name is also still visible on the engine cover.

Long tradition of designation
The C in the name has a long tradition at Sauber. Even back in the days of team founder Peter Sauber's sports car program, every car was designated C. The letter stands for the first name of Sauber's wife Christiane. Only during the time as a BMW factory team were the Sauber bolides named differently.

Official return to Formula 1
2018 was a rebuilding season for the team. Under new team boss Frédéric Vasseur, it was a very successful one, and by the end of the season the team was already in the midfield. Technical Director Simone Resta: "We have set ourselves ambitious goals for this season, which will bring major changes to the regulations. Especially in terms of aerodynamics. We have a great driver pairing and look forward to hearing their feedback over the next two weeks of testing." AutoSprintCH will present the teams with all the key information at the season opener in Melbourne on March 17.
