After the title, a medal?
Patric Niederhauser and Christoph Lenz will compete in the GT Cup. Driver duos from 22 nations are on the grid. The race will be held on the famous Vallelunga circuit near Rome.
The Swiss duo will drive a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 prepared by Raton Racing. Lenz is one of the best Am drivers and "Nidi" won the ADAC GT Masters title in 2019. Of course, he would now like to finish his season with another success.
Patric Niederhauser: "It is difficult to estimate how successful we will be. But I see us racing in the front third."
Yves Meyer wants to win
In the Drifting Cup, Yves Meyer competes against 23 other drift artists from all over the world. The co-owner of Drivingcenter EventSeelisberg will be driving his usual BMW M2 F22 Eurofighter in the national colors. Drifting will take place on the winding infield of Vallelunga, with the battles of the top 16 and the final on Saturday evening taking place under floodlights.
Meyer's star rose a year ago with the runner-up title in the FIA Intercontinental Drifting Cup in Japan. The 28-year-old from central Switzerland also scored podium finishes in the European Championship and the Oman International Drift Series. He wants to achieve no less at the FIA Motorsport Games.
Yves Meyer: "The level will be at least as high as in Tokyo in 2018. I know some opponents well to very well, others not at all. It will certainly be exciting, but I think I can beat anyone. Therefore, victory or at least a medal is my goal."
Difficult stand for Eugster
The fourth Swiss is Fredy Eugster. This year's first Swiss champion in Sim Racing will be chasing medals in the Digital Cup, but with 30 competitors he will be facing the field with the largest number of participants.
Fredy Eugster: "I'm looking forward to this competition, but I'm staying on the ground in terms of medal chances. The competition is strong. I'll do my best, but I'm not a proven Gran Turismo specialist. But of course I've still been practicing diligently..."
Three categories without Swiss
The Kart Slalom, Formula 4 and Touring Car (TCR) disciplines will be staged without Swiss participation. Jörg Schori was named, but has withdrawn his application in the Touring Car Cup.
The FIA Motorsport Games, a kind of Olympic Games for racing, will begin on Thursday afternoon with a parade through Rome's streets and a grand opening ceremony in the evening. Starting Friday morning, training will take place in Vallelunga. A total of 51 nations have been registered by their automobile sports associations (ASN).
