Even though all racing events are currently canceled or postponed, work behind the scenes is in full swing. This is also the case for the Porsche team of Alex Fach from Sattel SZ. Fach Auto Tech will again field three Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars in the 2020 Supercup, the start of which is uncertain.
Alex Fach: "The current situation is anything but simple. No one knows exactly when and how things will continue in motorsport. But simply waiting is not an option for us. We want to be successful again in the Porsche Supercup. That's why we have to be ready whenever things get going."
The veteran returns
In 2020, Fach Auto Tech will start its eighth season in the international Porsche one-make cup. In 2014, the team brought the championship title to Sattel with future works driver and Le Mans winner Earl Bamber from New Zealand. From 2016, Alex Fach's team was runner-up three times in a row. The aim this year is to build on these successes.
With Jaap van Lagen as reserve driver, Fach took victory in Monaco in 2015. Two years ago, the Dutchman contested the entire Supercup season for the racing team from Canton Schwyz, but fell short of expectations with just two podium finishes. He was also part of the international one-make cup in 2019.
Two aspiring Australians
This is Joey Mawson's second season in the championship. With third place overall and two class wins, the 24-year-old Australian secured second place in the rookie classification last year. He is aiming for his first race win in 2020.
Jordan Love is the second Australian to join the team as a Supercup rookie. The 20-year-old's career took him from the Australian Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge to the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, in which he was crowned champion in 2019.
Alex Fach: "I am very happy about this step. The Supercup will bring its challenges, but I have a great team that will support me in the best possible way."
