"I'm really excited that it's finally starting again," says Philipp Frommenwiler. For the 26-year-old motorsports driver from Switzerland, Sunday marks the start of his second full season in the world's most popular one-make cup. "This year, I want to continue my upward trend from last year and score some top finishes. With Alex Fach's team, the conditions for this are very good," he adds.
A few weeks earlier, Philipp Frommenwiler and his Italian teammate Matteo Cairoli were already on the track outside Barcelona. During the official Supercup test drives, the two had the opportunity to optimally prepare for the first race of the year. With two race wins in the French Carrera Cup at Spa-Francorchamps, Cairoli got off to the best possible start to the new season.
Alongside Frommenwiler, Jeffrey Schmidt is another Swiss competitor in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. After his recent success in the German championship at Hockenheim, the 22-year-old from Liestal is in good spirits to claim a top finish.
For everyone who wants to follow the race in Barcelona: Eurosport and Sky will report live from the track on Sunday, May 15 - 11:30 a.m. starts.
