Fabio Scherer: New Challenge in the USA

DEBÜT IN DAYTONA Fabio Scherer demonstrated his skills in the FIA World Endurance Championship this year. He will contest part of the 2022 season in the American Endurance Cup with a top team.

Fabio Scherer is looking forward to the new challenge with excitement.

The Swiss, who is newly classified as a Gold driver, will take part in the rounds of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup together with Anders Fjordbach and Dennis Andersen in the Oreca 07 LMP2 of the Danish team High Class Racing. This includes the 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, 6 Hours of Watkins Glen and the 10-hour Petit le Mans at Road Atlanta.

New territory USA
For the Engelberger, the races in the USA will be a new challenge. With his recent successes in the World Endurance Championship - two LMP2 victories in five starts with United Autosports - he has acquired the tools to enter the top class of sports car racing in the United States.

Fabio Scherer: "I'm looking forward to this new Challenge. It will definitely be an exciting affair, especially when I think of all the old-school tracks. In fact, I've never been to the U.S. before. So it will all be new for me!"

The Oreca LMP2 from High Class Racing will be the new sports car for Scherer.

Premiere in Daytona
The season begins for Fabio Scherer and his new team with the "Roar before the 24" from January 21 to 23, 2022, which is the official testing of all teams that will participate in the 24-hour race one week later.

Fabio Scherer: "High Class Racing has an impressive record. And we're all looking forward to the first rounds at Daytona, where they did well last year. Having moved up from a Silver status driver to a Gold status driver, it will also be a new challenge for me to lead the team in this new adventure."
