In Spa, Emlil Frey Lexus Racing did not have luck on its side. Because its direct title rivals also failed to score well, the team remained at the top of the Endurance Cup standings.

After the scare at the Spa 24 Hours with Stéphane Ortelli's serious accident and 13th place for the second car, the team from Safenwil wants to deliver a good performance at the season finale to keep its nose in front in the battle for the championship. The highlight so far was victory at the 1000 kilometers of Paul Ricard in June.

Both the overall and Endurance Cup standings are very close. Emil Frey Lexus Racing currently ranks fifth overall in the team standings, but is just 2.5 points behind third place.

Endurance Cup lead
In the Endurance Cup, the Swiss team holds the lead, but has to defend the advantage of just four points over the best AKKA ASP Mercedes.

A year ago, the team was already in a similar position at the same venue when the International GT Open title was at stake. In terms of the track, Barcelona should suit the Lexus RC F GT3.

Team manager Lorenz Frey-Hilti (he recently got married) is looking forward to the exciting final, which could bring the biggest success for his team so far.

Lorenz Frey-Hilti: "It would be a very good achievement for Lexus and our team if we could win the Endurance Cup title for the first time in Emil Frey Racing's history. The whole team has been working non-stop to find constant improvements. Even with setbacks and not so good results, we had strong races again afterwards. I'm confident for Barcelona. I'm also very happy that Stéphane is back in the cockpit after the accident at Spa and can support us."

Farewell to the Jaguar. The car, which has been further developed in Safenwil over the years and was allowed to race with special homologation, will no longer be registered in the future.

Last race for the Jaguar
In addition, the Emil Frey Jaguar built in Safenwil will be at the start of a GT race for the last time. Alex Fontana, Adrian Zaugg and the Canadian Mikael Grenier still have the best chances of a medal position in the Silver Cup.

Qualifying and the race will take place on Sunday, September 30, at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. respectively. Both will be broadcast live on the Blancpain Series homepage.
