Dubai: Double podium for Simon Trummer 🎥

Phoenix Racing's debut in prototype racing began with fireworks from Simon Trummer. Starting third from the second row, the driver from Bern took the lead in the green Oreca-Gibson LMP2 as early as the first lap.

The laps kept the chasers on the ball. A somewhat optimistic overtaking attempt by Sean Gelael led to a slight collision and the spinning of both opponents. The Swiss was thus out of the lead and had to pick up a new rear fairing in the pits.
With consistently fast lap times, Simon Trummer, Liechtenstein's Matthias Kaiser and Danish pro Nicki Thiim at least made it onto the podium in third place.

It could have been better
The Phoenix trio also finished the second race on Sunday on the same level. The three drivers battled for second place right to the end and were ultimately beaten by just 14 seconds.
The Swiss was also slightly disappointed by the double podium.
Simon Trummer: "If it hadn't been for Gelael's miss, first or second place would have been possible on Saturday. It's a pity. On Sunday, we lacked the pace to the top. I hope we find something for Abu Dhabi that makes us faster."
Continuation and conclusion in Abu Dhabi
Team boss Ernst Moser was nevertheless satisfied with the sports car debut of his Nürburgring-based racing team.
Ernst Moser: "The entire team put in an impressive performance this weekend. To take two podium places directly on debut is not something that can be taken for granted. We can be proud of that and travel to Abu Dhabi with confidence."
Two more 4-hour races will be held there next Friday and Saturday, each of which will finish under floodlights. This also marks the end of the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series, which will focus on the two weekends in the Arab Emirates due to the Corona pandemic and its impact on travel options.

Porsche wins in GT3
Both races were won by the G Drive Racing team with the two Austrians René Binder and Ferdinand Habsburg and the young Chinese Yifei Ye on an Auris-Gibson LMP2.
In the GT3 class with a strong field of 19 cars, the faster of the two Ferrari 488s entered by Kessel Racing finished 8th and 9th. With Herberth Motorsport on Saturday (without Daniel Allemann from Solothurn, who is competing in the 24H Series) and GPX Racing on Sunday, who already won the 24 Hours of Dubai a month ago with the same three drivers, both race wins went to Porsche customer teams.
