The deployment of the DTM vehicles is organized and controlled by AF Racing AG, based in Niederwil near St. Gallen. With its R-Motorsport team, the Swiss racing company already successfully fields Aston Martin Vantage GT3s in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup.
Aston Martin instead of Mercedes
The joint venture company of AF Racing AG and HWA AG is responsible for the operation. In the medium term, up to four DTM silhouette cars, based on the Aston Martin Vantage design, are to be put on the grid. The necessary license from Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. is held by AF Racing AG.
With this new commitment, the most successful team remains in the most popular European touring car series. HWA was previously responsible for the entries of the Mercedes-Benz DTM cars. This brand will say goodbye to the DTM this weekend at the finale in Hockenheim.
A big challenge
No team has been able to claim as many victories, podiums and titles as HWA AG. Accordingly, the team from Affalterbach will continue to assume responsibility for racing, development, and testing in the DTM in the coming season.
For Dr. Florian Kamelger, co-owner of AF Racing AG and Team Principal of R-Motorsport, entering the DTM is a big challenge.
Dr. Florian Kamelger: "We are building on the expertise of our successful partner HWA. The aim of our joint venture in DTM is to implement demand-driven deployment planning with enormous cost efficiency. The industry has long been working successfully along these lines, and in motorsport we are among the pioneers of this very sensible practice."
