DTM: Nico Müller would be thrilled with floodlit races

There are still 83 days to go until the 2016 DTM season opener at Hockenheim. This means that the DTM is also in its winter break. But that doesn't mean it will be quiet for a long time yet. The media are currently reporting rumors that the DTM is planning a night race. The most likely scenario is a race under floodlights in Abu Dhabi, they say. "I like the idea. I'm convinced that our cars would look absolutely brilliant under floodlights and the atmosphere on the track would be unique for drivers and spectators," says DTM driver Nico Müller.

How much truth there is in the rumors is unclear. Nevertheless, the idea receives enthusiastic approval from Müller: "I can't judge whether this option is actually being discussed. But I would definitely be thrilled should it come to that! In my opinion, another race abroad and even outside Europe would be good for the international reputation of the DTM."

Full schedule
Müller himself is anything but quiet as well. Due to the limited testing opportunities for the Audi RS5 DTM, the Audi driver's calendar is currently filled primarily with PR appointments and sponsor events. Furthermore, "I'm using the time to optimally prepare myself physically and mentally for the season," Müller reported.

The Bernese is particularly fond of skiing. "In winter, I really like to be out on my cross-country skis, and here and there I get "adrenaline rushes" on the Alpine skis. Among other things, I skied my first giant slalom race this winter as part of the Audi Quattro Ski Cup and qualified for the world final in St. Moritz. That keeps the competitive spirit alive," Müller told us.
