The highlights of the first sprint at the Lauditzring show how Nico Müller dominated the race from the start.
Nico Müller is the first driver ever to win the first three DTM races of a season. Across the season, the Swiss has even been unbeaten for four races.
Thanks to the Abt team
The recent success is largely due to his Audi Sport Abt team, says the dominator of the 2020 DTM season so far.
Nico Müller: "Because of my involvement in the Formula E finale in Berlin, I wasn't able to be there for the usual preparation for the race weekend. The guys did a mega job, explained to me what I had to look out for here and gave me a fantastic car. I had a good start, was able to stay in front afterwards and drive home the win. I'm very happy."

Table lead extended
After setting fastest times in both free practice sessions on Friday, Müller started the first of the two races at the Lausitzring from second on the grid. The Swiss immediately took the lead at the start and was able to extend his advantage to 7.5 seconds.
Nico Müller: "Then there was a slow zone and two lapped cars in front of me drove so slowly that I lost almost my entire lead. Sheldon (van der Linde) was almost hanging on my bumper after that. Fortunately, I was able to pull away again."
Along the way, Müller also set the fastest race lap. In the championship, he now already has such a big lead that he will certainly retain the lead in the standings until next weekend, when the longer track variant of the Lausitzring will be driven.

First podium for BMW
Abt teammate Robin Frijns secured pole position as at the season opener in Spa. At the start, the Dutchman was able to put the Swiss under pressure. After ten laps, his tires obviously degraded more than those of the others, so Frijns had to settle for third place.
In second place, South African Sheldon van der Linde gave BMW its first podium of the season.
