The DTM will only start at Hockenheim in October. There are always plenty of Swiss fans sitting in the big grandstands.

Next year, Europe's most popular touring car series will be staged ten times in Germany and other European countries. With one race each on Saturday and Sunday, the DTM will stick to the tried and tested format. Where Races 5 and 6 will be held from May 29 to 31 will be announced by the DTM umbrella organization ITR in two weeks before this year's finale at Hockenheim (October 4 to 6) - this is to be a surprise.

Season start in Belgium
A drop of bitterness for many Swiss fans: The season will no longer start at Hockenheim, but a week earlier than in previous years at Zolder in Belgium (April 24-26). The former GP circuit not far from the German border hosted the season opener in the early years of the DTM from 1984 to 1994, with one exception (1987). At least the DTM follows the tradition of staging the finale at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg (October 2-4).

New territory in Sweden and Italy
For the first time, the more than 610-hp touring cars will race in Sweden (June 12-14). The Scandinavian Raceway at Anderstorp in the south of Sweden is the country's most famous race track. The circuit, which features several banked corners, hosted Formula 1 in the 1970s. With Monza, as previously reported, a current Formula 1 circuit is also new to the calendar. For Swiss as the two opportunity to see Nico Müller live in action in a foreign country close to the border.

Again with W Series
Another new feature is that the DTM will take a summer break lasting several weeks. The supporting program of the individual events will be announced by the ITR at a later date. What is certain is that the W Series, in which exclusively women compete against each other, will be a partner series of the DTM in its second year of racing as well.

In 2020, the venues extend as far as Scandinavia. In return, there will no longer be racing in Austria in the east - unless this is the surprise announced.
