Drifting: Meyer's dream comes true 🎥
CHANGE TO NEXEN TIRES Professional drifter Yves Meyer has entered into a partnership with Nexen Tires. As in other motorsports where the aim is to achieve the best times, success in drifting depends not only on the driving skills of the drifter, but also on the equipment. It is not only the racing car that is important, in Meyer's case a BMW F22 Eurofighter, but also the rubber to get the power onto the asphalt on the prescribed ideal line.
Nexen for the Drift Team and the Swiss Race Academy
In order to build on his second place in the 2018 FIA Intercontinental Drifting Cup in Japan, Yves Meyer and the entire motorsport team from Eventcenter Seelisberg entered into a new partnership with Nexen Tires Switzerland (Hostettler Group).
The Swiss Race Academy is also positively affected by this. For the first time, the Toyota GT86s of the seven juniors competing for the Swiss Junior Hillclimb Championship will be running on standard tires from Nexen (previously Pirelli).
The only European
A few days ago, the drift king from central Switzerland was able to take delivery of the first Nexen N`FERA SUR4G tires and test them in Castelletto di Branduzzo.
Yves Meyer: "Only a few drivers worldwide are allowed to drive these tires - I am the only European... an incredible honor. Compared to my previous tires, the SUR4G is much more precise when steering and builds up a lot more speed, especially in the transitions between corners!"
First race in Italy
The first test will take place on May 25/26 at Driftkings Italy in Modena, where Meyer is hoping for a significantly better result than at his season opener in Hungary in April.
Yves Meyer: "The weather was atrocious and we had massive setup problems on the front axle. Unfortunately, we weren't able to fix them properly, and a stupid mistake in the chase run in the Top 16 battles dashed all hopes of a happy ending."
