THIRD IN MOTO-E DEBATE Dominique Aegerter finished third on the podium in his debut race with the MotoE bike in Jerez. However, the 29-year-old from Rohrbach had to do a lot to achieve this. The MotoE race in a five-minute summary from Hyliazionale. It shows Aegerter losing a few positions right at the start and gradually regaining them.
Consistently strong performances on the practice days laid the foundation for the great success on Sunday. After a botched opening lap, Dominique Aegerter, who started from third on the grid, first had to fight his way back towards the top lap by lap.
Now we are fasting...
The first race in the FIM MotoE World Cup for electric racing motorcycles was a completely new experience for him, the Bernese admitted afterwards. And he was ironically self-critical...
Dominique Aegerter: "I actually got off to a good start, but by the first corner a few people had gone round my ears. I think I'm at a bit of a disadvantage in terms of my body weight. So I'm not going to eat anything this week so that won't happen next Sunday. No, of course I won't. The first lap wasn't my strong point today, I got passed by a few riders."

Act of violence
At this short race distance, which was even shortened by another lap from seven to six because of the heat, it is a feat of violence to get back to the front. In addition, overtaking is not exactly easy because all the riders have the same bike.
However, Aegerter was able to regain four positions by the time he reached the finish. That it was enough for the podium in the end fills him with satisfaction, even if it could have been more after the best times in the previous tests.
Dominique Aegerter: "That's certainly not too bad for the first race. We can be satisfied with that and look forward with confidence to the next race here in a week's time."
He misses the Swiss fans
Only something bothered him - the "weird atmosphere" of a ghost race.
Dominique Aegerter: "We all miss the fans in the stands. It's hard for me to get used to not seeing any Swiss flags at all with the 77 (his race number for years, Red.). Hopefully the fans still had fun watching me on TV and keeping their fingers crossed at home."
With experience into the second race week
Finally, the motorcycle professional expresses his gratitude to all those who believe in him.
Dominique Aegerter: "I am incredibly happy that the racing season has finally begun. So once again my thanks to everyone who has made this possible. This includes, of course, my entire team and all the sponsors who support this project despite the most difficult times and continue to run it to the fullest. After these first experiences, we will work hard from the first practice on Friday so that we are then at the top next Sunday."
