The first victory of Bruno Bleiker

The changeable weather conditions at now almost all races of the Swiss Slalom Championship also affected the action at the seventh round of the Suzuki Grand Prix 2016 in Romont. As Fabian Eggenberger was competing in another one-make cup this time, which only allows this participation, Sandro Fehr was the sole favorite in Romont. However, the man from eastern Switzerland was not quite able to fulfill this role [...]

Although he set the best time in the first run on the 2.91 km track, the start of which resembles a hill climb, there was a 20-second bonus because he touched two gates on his run. Fehr then managed the second safe attempt a little faster and without any mistakes, but Bruno Bleiker's best time of 2'17.305 held. The man from Bütschwil was thus able to celebrate his first triumph in the Suzuki Grand Prix, which was rewarded with a 1200 franc victory bonus.

However, victory in the L2 class up to 1600 cc went for the first time to a competitor who did not have a Suzuki Swift Sport. Heiko Leiber took third place in the internal classification of the Swiss importer, followed by Andreas Saner, Gilbert Denzer and Andreas Grubert. While Bettina Buess did not start in Romont, a second woman, Christiane Okonek, took a liking to the Suzuki Grand Prix. She did well, finishing in 15th place and leaving two competitors with other brands behind her.

At first it was still dry during the practice for the Swiss Championship, but over noon it started to rain again. So the tire choice for the Flammer Speed Team for Patrick Flammer's Suzuki Swift Evo 2000 became a poker. The team opted for rally tires that also work on damp surfaces. The choice was spot on, as Flammer's third place in Group E1 up to 2000 cc proved. Because a new rain front was on the horizon, the rally tires remained on the Suzuki. Promptly, after an interruption in Group E1, rain started again, so that all cars with slicks were at a clear disadvantage. Flammer and the leader were able to improve slightly, but nothing changed in the standings. This meant the second podium finish in 2016. for the Glarner Suzuki team.
