Delétraz: Another F2 podium at Silverstone 🎥

THIRD IN THE SPRINT RACE Like four weeks ago in Spielberg, Louis Delétraz conquered a podium in the FIA Formula 2 sprint race in Silverstone. The summary of the sprint race shows how Delétraz, who was in second place, lost another position in the final phase.

Louis Delétraz drove from tenth on the grid to a good sixth place in the main Formula 2 race at Silverstone on Saturday. This not only secured the 23-year-old from Geneva six more championship points, but also third place on the grid for Sunday's sprint race in accordance with the regulations.

Attack failed to materialize
Delétraz held this position until a safety car phase, which Christian Lundgaard, who was ahead of him, used to change tires like many others. This allowed the Frenchman to move up to second place, but he was no longer able to keep the Dane, who was storming ahead on fresh tires, behind him in the final phase.

The victory - the first in Formula 2 - went to Briton Dan Ticktum, who led from the start. The only Swiss driver in the second-highest racing car class was also happy with third place in this high-caliber field.

Louis Delétraz: "I'm happy about it. That was the best I could do. Just before the safety car phase, I got a bit closer to the front because I started to push. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to attack."

Waiting and hoping for a win
With the 18 points - as many as four weeks earlier at the season opener in Spielberg - Delétraz moves up to seventh position in the championship. After several second and third places in four Formula 2 seasons so far, he is now only missing a top result in a main race and a race win.

He knows how he intends to achieve this, preferably next weekend at the same venue.

Louis Delétraz: "It seems that we have become stronger again. But we have to work on qualifying to improve my starting position. I've scored good points in both races on three out of four weekends, but that's not enough. I need to start winning races. If I can do that soon, I'll be back in the title race."

Optimistic look ahead. The man from Geneva is self-critical enough to know that only victories will take him further (Photo: Sebastiaan Rozendaal / Dutch Photo Agency).
