The Lifewire accelerates almost silently to 100 kilometers per hour in just over 3.5 seconds.
The 74 hp electric drive requires neither clutch nor transmission. The Lifewire accelerates almost silently to 100 kilometers per hour in a good 3.5 seconds. The torque is fully available at all times. In urban traffic, Harley-Davidson promises a range of up to 177 kilometers. The drivetrain has been positioned low in the motorcycle to lower the center of gravity.
Information is available via H-D Connect
The Livewire is equipped with H-D Connect, which connects connectivity and cloud services to the Harley-Davidson app via the mobile network using the LTE standard. This technology is being used for the first time in a U.S. high-volume electric motorcycle. H-D Connect collects vehicle data and transmits it to the app to provide the rider with various information. If unauthorized persons tamper with or move the motorcycle, the rider is notified accordingly.
Potential customers tested prototypes
The vision behind the Livewire production motorcycle began with Project Livewire in the form of e-prototypes unveiled in 2014 to determine the potential of an electrically powered Harley-Davidson. As part of the Project Livewire demo tour, fans and potential customers worldwide were given the opportunity to ride one of the prototypes and give Harley-Davidson their feedback.
