BMW M Customer Racing customers were active in many racing series in 2019, as this short teaser of the past season shows.
In total, 339 drivers and 71 teams were registered for the BMW Sports Trophy races. Prize money of 350,000 euros was distributed among the 25 most successful drivers and the ten best teams.
Title in the 24H Series and ADAC GT4 Germany
As the best team, Hofor Racing from Eggenwil AG narrowly beat Pixum Team Adrenalin Motorsport, which won the 2019 VLN. In addition to 25 podium finishes, Martin Kroll's team celebrated the team titles in the newly launched 2019 ADAC GT4 Germany and in the 24H TCE European Series, there in the GT4 class with the M4s, and in the Cup1 class with a likewise new M240i Racing Cup. The triumph in the BMW Sports Trophy team classification was rewarded with 30,000 euros in prize money in addition to the winner's trophy.
Swiss-German partnership
Hofor Racing was in its tenth year with BMW race cars in 2019. The team from Aargau has been working with Bonk Motorsport from Germany for two years. For Martin Kroll and Michael Bonk, the bosses of the two teams, victory in the team classifications was at the top of the wish list. Last year, this was achieved at the first attempt with the BMW M235i Racing Cup in the 24H Series, and now also with the new Munich cars in Germany and in the Creventic endurance series.
Three Hofor/Bonk pilots in the top 8
The title, the trophy and 30,000 euros in the drivers' championship went to Gabriele Piana. Driving a BMW M4 GT4, the Italian contested the entire ADAC GT4 Germany and GT4 European Series season for the RN Vision STS Racing team, claiming eight class victories.
In fifteenth place, Martin Kroll is the best-placed Swiss. His three drivers Michael Fischer, Michael Schrey and Thomas Jäger finished 6th, 7th and 8th. In 2020, the title will be defended in both racing series.
