BMW: Definition CE 04 coming in 2021 🎥
FUTURE ON TWO WHEELS As early as next year, the production model of the BMW Definition CE 04 e-prototype will also be launched in Switzerland. At least that's what the BMW Group announced at the digital #NEXTGen 2020 event. BMW is primarily targeting big city commuters as customers with the Definition CE 04 scooter. The focus is [...]
With the Definition CE 04 scooter, BMW has set its sights primarily on big-city commuters as customers.
The focus is on urban users, so the manufacturer considers range and engine performance to be less central than connectivity, ergonomics and design.
Ranges of up to 160 kilometers
The futuristically styled but near-series urban and agglomeration scooter BMW Definition CE 04 is to be the successor to the C Evolution (35 kw/48 hp) and offer ranges of up to 160 kilometers. The brand is targeting big-city commuters as customers with the Definition CE 04.
With electric drive, avant-garde design and connectivity solutions, the aim is to conquer the discerning clientele.
A vehicle for every day in the city
Alexander Buckan, Head of Vehicle Design at BMW: "A scooter is not a fun bike to take to the mountains when the weather is nice, but an everyday vehicle for the journey from home to the office or the evening meeting with friends - simply a vehicle for every day in the city. So we were able to realize a kind of floating bench seat that allows you to slide onto the vehicle comfortably even from behind."
Flat energy storage like car
Technically and visually, the Definition CE 04 prototype is close to the study already shown in 2017. The elongated silhouette has remained.
As with the car, the very flat energy storage system is located horizontally in the underbody and ensures an extremely low center of gravity. The diagonally protruding front end has a polarizing effect.
With 10.25-inch display the office on board
The electric motor is located at the rear and drives the disc wheel, which is suspended from a single-sided swing arm, via a toothed belt. The storage compartment is illuminated and should be able to accommodate a full helmet.
LED all-round lighting with light signatures - designed as a U at the front and a C at the rear - is now a matter of course. The 10.25-inch TFT display in the cockpit is impressive. Thanks to smartphone networking, the businessman always has his office with him.
BMW is therefore clearly not targeting the leisure motorcycle crowd. Ergonomics, full digital equipment and storage space are more important than a large power storage unit. There are no official details on the drive yet.
