The Swiss Race Academy offers young drivers the unique opportunity to compete for the title of Swiss Mountain Champion Junior 2019 in their very first national racing season. The race is run with a standardized Toyota GT86 Race (200 hp) according to Superseries regulations.
Experienced environment
The race vehicles of the Swiss Race Academy are centrally prepared, transported and maintained by Swiss Driving Event GmbH in Seelisberg. Instructors and coaches with racing & media experience are on hand to advise on each race weekend. They also help to create an optimal sponsoring and marketing concept.
The only condition is the driving license of cat. B. Applicants must not be older than 1991 and must not have had a national or international license.
LOCal and REGional license holders as well as complete newcomers are thus offered the chance to enter the national hillclimb scene in a professional environment and compete for an official Swiss championship title from Auto Sport Switzerland.
Good and important tips
This year's champion Thomas Schmid confirms that his participation in the Swiss Race Academy has helped him in a number of areas.
Thomas Schmid: "You don't have high investment costs and can concentrate on driving. Beginners learn to ride cleanly and at the limit. You can always learn something from people like Ronnie Bratschi, Röbi Wicki, Hans Schori and Yves Meyer. They give good and important tips."
Good springboard
Five of the eight first Academy graduates continued in another category in 2018, where they proved their talent. First champion Rolf Reding led the Swiss Mountain Cup with a Toyota GT86 from Seelisberg until shortly before the end of the season. Runner-up Lukas Eugster drove a Formula Renault 2.0 for top places in the slalom championship.
Raphael Feigenwinter and Mario Koch dueled for podium places on Honda Integra in the Super Series up to two liters. Joshua C. Reynolds took the plunge onto the international stage and achieved good midfield finishes in the ADC TCR Germany on a Cupra TCR.
Sighting January 20, 2019
The deadline for registration is January 14, 2019, and the candidates will be screened on January 20 at the Event Center Seelisberg. The eight selected finalists will then compete for the title of Swiss Mountain Champion Junior 2019 at the four mountain races in Reitnau, Anzère, Oberhallau and Les Paccots.
Attendance at the sighting costs 185 Swiss francs, including lunch. For the complete racing season including two media days, test day, four races and the driver package including vehicle rental, 8865 Swiss francs must be raised.
