Auto Sport Schweiz: Honoring the champions

The presenter Lukas Studer, known from Swiss television, led through the gala evening in the Hotel Bellevue Palace Bern. Without exception, all podium drivers from the three championships (rally, slalom, mountain) and various cups accepted the invitation. They were allowed to receive their trophies from NSK President Andreas Michel and Miss Yokohama Milena Crusi.

The most successful race engine builder of our time
Among the guests were SVP National Councilor and FMS President Walter Wobmann and the well-known engine developer Mario Illien. The native of the Grisons on Lake Zurich received the ASS Award 2018 for his life's work.

The 69-year-old is one of the world's most successful, if not the most successful race engine builder of our time. Well-known car manufacturers and teams as well as quite a few drivers have won numerous races and championships thanks to Ilmor's engines. Ilmor's latest project is its collaboration with Honda in Formula 1.

Internationally successful Swiss
Various internationally successful Swiss pilots, whom the schedule allowed, attended the ASS championship celebration. The evening was punctuated with driver interviews and by fast-paced video footage from Finger Video and Peter Zbären (Swiss Racing Media). In the show program, the gymnastics show team Konterschwung, known from TV, performed with their interludes on the parallel bars.
