Car racing days: Confidence at ACS Thurgau
LIGHTLIGHT As early as February, the ACS Thurgau had decided to move the Frauenfeld 2021 Auto-Race Days from the traditional April date to July. After the recent decisions of the Federal Council, the preparatory work will be continued with full vigor. The postponement to the weekend of July 17/18, 2021, which was decided last February, was linked to the hope that the pandemic situation in Switzerland would have calmed down somewhat by then and that such events would be permitted again within reasonable limits.
Federal Council encourages
The relaxation announced by the Federal Council on May 26 at the beginning of the summer is now encouraging for all organizers of major events and sporting events - including the ACS Thurgau.
Marcel Muzzarelli, President of the Sports Commission of ACS Thurgau: "Originally, it should be clear what will be allowed in July so that we can make a decision. However, the statements of the Federal Council suggest that if the health situation in Switzerland continues to develop positively, larger outdoor events could take place again in the summer. We are therefore pressing ahead with our preparations. We are now doing everything we can to stage the Auto-Renntage Frauenfeld 2021 in mid-July, if legislation permits."
Appeal to drivers and officials
The race on the Grosse Allmend in Frauenfeld is to count towards the 2021 Swiss Slalom Championship - after several postponements and cancellations by other organizers, it would be the first ever this year. By staging the popular event, ACS Thurgau wants to set an example for national motorsport.
The organizers therefore appeal to the solidarity of drivers and indispensable officials and helpers. These are hereby called upon to register from June 1, 2021 at go4race.ch, the online portal of the ACS, or directly at the ACS Thurgau.
Either way without spectators
One drop of bitterness remains, however: spectators are excluded from the event in any case - they will have to wait until the 22nd Frauenfeld Auto-Race Days in 2022. This decision in principle was already taken in the fall of 2020 for safety reasons and for the purpose of better budget planning.
