Audi: From the desert to the city 🎥

BACKGROUND The Four Rings not only use the drive technology of the RS Q e-tron in the Dakar Rally, they also show it off in big cities. After Hamburg, three capitals were now on the agenda.

Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz crossed Madrid as Spaniards, Stéphane Peterhansel and Edouard Boulanger Paris as Frenchmen, and the Swedes Mattias Ekström and Emil Bergkvist steered the electric power prototype through Stockholm. The three Audi driver teams passed the landmarks of the capitals with the RS Q e-tron. The royal palaces in Spain and Sweden or the Eiffel Tower and Sacré-Cœur in Paris were just a few stops.

Presentation of the new E-technology

At selected locations, the RS Q e-tron also demonstrated the power of its 263 kW electric drive (358 hp) in drifts. Time and again, passers-by turned to look at the eye-catching car, marveled, took photos and asked for autographs, which the professionals were happy to give.

Head of Audi Motorsport Rolf Michl: "We've put an exclamation mark on the three city tours. Of course, our car doesn't start in front of an audience at the desert rallies like it does on the circuit. Instead, we have now demonstrated the e-technology in front of many people in three major European cities."

Motorsport with low-emission model

Audi has been one of the pioneers of electrification in motorsport since 2012. The brand developed the RS Q e-tron to succeed in desert motorsport with a low-emission model. The drive group consists of an internal combustion engine and a generator. Since this season, Audi has also been using more sustainable fuel that emits more than 60 percent of the CO2-emissions.

Stage wins and podium results

Last year, Team Audi Sport clinched overall victory in the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. In two editions of the Dakar Rally so far, the desert Audi has also clinched six stage victories and 28 podium results in the daily classifications. Three film and photo productions will be released in the next few days. The drive through Madrid is available on the Audi Sport social media channels and audimedia.tv  already switched on. The tour of Paris will follow on September 27, and will conclude with a performance in Stockholm on October 4.
