Daniel Abt and champion Lucas di Grassi will be at the wheel of the Audi e-tron FE04 for Team Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler. For the first time, a Formula E season will begin with two rounds on one weekend, a so-called "double header": Fans will experience two almost identical event days with practice, qualifying and race on Saturday and Sunday. Including the additional points for pole position and fastest race lap, a total of 58 points will be awarded. "We want to be perfectly positioned from the very first minute and get off to a good start to the new season," says Lucas di Grassi. The champion is looking forward to Hong Kong: "The city is great, the fans enthusiastic - the whole event is a fantastic spectacle."
The 1860-kilometer circuit passes directly by the harbor front and the famous Ferris wheel. The temporary course runs over otherwise public roads and has a very long straight that offers a good overtaking opportunity. This is followed by a technically demanding part with many tight turns. An additional challenge is the surface of the track: it changes from asphalt to concrete during the course. There will be 43 laps on Saturday and 45 on Sunday.
Both races in Hong Kong will start at 3 p.m. local time (8 a.m. CET). In Switzerland, the races will be broadcast on Eurosport 1 and Mysports. Up-to-date information from Team Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler is available on Twitter at @audiformulae (hashtags #etron #FormulaE #HKEPrix).
Formula E will start in the city of Zurich on June 10, 2018.
