ASS Award: Homage to Fredy Lienhard

AWARD WINNER 2020 Since 2007, Auto Sport Switzerland has presented the "Auto Sport Award" in recognition of special services to national and international motorsport. In 2020, this award will go to Fredy Lienhard. The list of winners of the "Auto Sport Award" reads like a "who's who" of Swiss racing. The list of winners of the "Auto Sport Award" reads like a "who's who" of Swiss racing. In addition to well-known personalities such as Peter Sauber, Mario Illien and Paul Gutjahr, drivers such as Marcel Fässler, Neel Jani and, most recently, Sébastien Buemi have also received awards.

Unparalleled promoter
In 2020, Fredy Lienhard will be another prominent name. The 73-year-old from eastern Switzerland has made a name for himself as an internationally successful pilot.

On the other hand, the long-standing CEO of Lista AG in Erlen TG is regarded as the biggest promoter in Swiss automobile and kart racing. Without his support, many a racing driver's career would never have begun or would have stalled.

Fredy Lienhard's greatest triumph as a car racer was winning the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2002, together with Mauro Baldi, Didier Theys and Max Papis.

The Formula A Lista and later LO Formula Renault teams, which he sponsored as the main sponsor, produced talents such as the first champion Neel Jani (in 2000 as a 17-year-old) and Nico Müller. The Lista Racing Team of the 1970s and 1980s is also legendary, with representatives such as Markus Hotz and Lienhard themselves taking numerous national day victories.

Founder of autobau Romanshorn
Without Fredy Lienhard, the "autobau erlebniswelt" in Romanshorn would not exist. There, many of his own racing cars and some of the drivers he supported can be admired in the large exhibition. Autobau has also been the main sponsor of the Swiss Kart Championship for several years.

Due to the current situation - and because there were no Swiss Automobile Championships in 2020 - the presentation of the Auto Sport Award 2020 cannot take place as usual during the annual celebration ("Dîner des Champions"). However, the award will be made up for on a suitable occasion in an honorable setting as soon as circumstances allow.
