The highlights of the previous event with three rounds in Spielberg show how things are going in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland and who the top people are.

Alexander Fach will be the first and only Swiss competitor in the field of the 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland this weekend at rounds 8 and 9 on the long version of the Lausitzring.

Its level can be compared to the already completed Supercup within Formula 1, as many teams and drivers continue their season here and the best fight for the podium places.

An unexpected joy
Italian Diego Bertonelli and Australian Joey Mawson will compete in their father's Fach Auto Tech team. However, the 18-year-old car mechanic will start with a third 991-II GT3 Cup from the Schwyz team under the application of Huber Racing from Germany.

For the Porsche junior, who won the 2020 Swiss GT3 Cup, everything came rather quickly and unexpectedly.

Alexander Fach: "I am very happy to be given this unexpected opportunity. It is made possible for me by sponsors and friends from the Porsche Centre Zug. I've never driven at the Lausitzring before, but I can get used to everything in a total of three free practice sessions before qualifying and the two races on Saturday and Sunday."

Learning weekend
In view of the strong competition, the new Swiss Porsche champion is deliberately keeping his head down.

Alexander Fach: "I don't have too many expectations. I'll just do my best. Of course, I want to look good. But my goal is to gain experience and enjoy the whole thing."

Mixed feelings with dad
Alex Fach, with whom later factory drivers such as Earl Bamber (2014 Supercup champion), Matteo Cairoli, Nick Yelloly (now with BMW) and Matt Campbell went to school, is happy for his son. However, he does not hide a certain skepticism.

Alex Fach: "It's a bit early for this start. But if he's given this chance, of course he has to take it. He can learn a lot. He did very well in the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse, because the level is better than you think. But the Carrera Cup Deutschland is a different league."

So what does the team boss from Schwyz think his talented son can do?

Alex Fach: "Many are already in their second or third season here, including the rookies. That's why he doesn't stand a chance even in the rookie classification. But I like to be surprised, which he has already done in Switzerland."

Alex Fach was only able to enjoy a podium finish from Diego Bertonelli in this season, which only began in August.

Regular drivers under pressure
Fach, on the other hand, expects more from his two more experienced regular drivers after the Supercup was a single disappointment, apart from Jordan Love's rookie classifications.

Alex Fach: "After Diego's first podium, I actually expected further progress. But most recently at the Red Bull Ring we suffered an unusual setback. But the Lausitzring has different track characteristics. That's why I expect him to be able to keep up with the top, no matter what position he's in."

Live on TV and Internet
Both races will be broadcast on TV station Sport1. On Saturday from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. live and on Sunday from 4:25 to 4:55 p.m. in a summary. Pay-TV station Sport1+ will also broadcast Sunday's race live from 1.25 p.m. to 2.10 p.m.

They can also be followed as a live stream on the internet on the official YouTube and Facebook channel (@CarreraCupDeutschland), in the Porsche Motorsport Hub and via the Fach Auto Tech homepage.
