Aegerter: Another start in Moto2

SUBSTITUTE RIDING FOR Dominique Aegerter in the Moto2 World Championship finale in Portugal at short notice. The rider from Bern will once again step in for NTS RW Racing GP. Dominique Aegerter already had good experiences with the people from NTS RW Racing GP in the summer.

As he did last August, when he replaced his compatriot Jesko Raffin at the Grands Prix in Brno and Spielberg, Dominique Aegerter will ride the Japanese NTS Moto2 racing machine of the RW Racing Team. He thus returns to a familiar environment.

Surprising line-up
The 30-year-old rider from Bern will replace Piotr Biesiekirski from Poland on the final weekend of the Motorcycle World Championship in Portugal. The latter had taken over Raffin's bike at NTS RW Racing GP from the second Misano race.

The third-placed rider in the already completed MotoE World Cup admits that the call-up on Tuesday evening came as a great surprise. However, he had always hoped to be able to race again this year.

Dominique Aegerter: "I'm sorry for Biesiekirski that he had to cancel and wish him all the best. For me, on the other hand, a small dream has suddenly come true in that I can once again be part of the NTS RW Racing GP project. I already had first-class experiences with these people in the summer and got on well with the bike straight away. So the conditions are different now than they were in Brno in August."

Route knowledge as an advantage
Not only does he now know the bike, but unlike many other riders, he also knows the race track in Portimão on the Algarve coast. Reason enough for him to give more than 100 percent.

Dominique Aegerter: "I will try everything to give the team strong results, like they had last weekend in Valencia. It would be nice to fight for a top ten finish together with my teammate Bo Bendsneyder. Before that, I would like to thank the team officials and all the sponsors for thinking of me in this situation and giving me this opportunity. I feel ready as I have continued my training without interruption even after the end of my racing season."

From the European Championship back to the World Cup
This will be Aegerter's 168th start in the Moto2 class. With the four points from the Austrian GP, which he finished in a good twelfth place, he is in 28th position in the championship standings.

Three weeks ago, Aegerter was allowed to ride for the Intact GP SIC Junior Team in the Moto2 European Championship in Valencia as a thank you for his performance in MotoE, where he finished 3rd and 2nd. Not quite unexpectedly back in the world championship, this exercise has certainly done him good in retrospect.

Domi77 is looking forward to fighting for positions once again for the Dutch team in Moto2. He now knows the bike very well.
