Cancellation: No Swiss Race Academy 2020

FOUR ARE TOO FEW There will be no Berg-SM Junior this year. Since only four people signed up, Drivingevent Seelisberg decided to cancel. However, a continuation is planned for 2021. The instructors Röbi Wicki and Ronnie Bratschi with the seven candidates for 2020. Unfortunately, only four wanted to take part in the competition.

Of the seven candidates selected in January at the Event Center Seelisberg, who would have been allowed to participate in the Swiss Junior Mountain Championship 2020, only four remained. Three dropped out by the deadline of the end of February, primarily for financial reasons.

Other solutions
Since a championship cannot be held with a quartet, the initiators and organizers of the Swiss Race Academy decided to cancel.

Yves Meyer: "Of course, we deeply regret this. We are now trying to find a solution with one or two drivers to use the existing cars individually. Either with our support or on our own."

That makes sense. In 2018, the first Bergmeister Junior Rolf Reding (2017) fought for the Swiss Mountain Cup with a Toyota GT86 from Seelisberg. The man from Schwyz was never defeated in the SuperSeries up to two liters.

This example could now be followed by Vanessa Knöpfli and/or one of her three colleagues who would like to have their own title decided among themselves.

Restart in 2021
However, course director Yves Meyer states that the cancellation only affects this year's class. The Swiss Race Academy is to be advertised again for 2021.

Whether or not concept or rule changes will be decided in the coming weeks.

And goodbye until 2021. After three years, the mountain juniors are taking a break for one season. Whether the Toyota GT86 will return remains to be seen.
