24H Series: No race in Alsace yet
A race for the 24H Series on the Anneau du Rhin near the border will not take place until 2021 at the earliest. The infrastructure does not yet allow it. There will also be no race at the Nürburgring. In the online message of 26 September last year, we reported with pleasure that the 24H Series 2020 would stop for the first time near the Swiss border. The 12H Alsace was planned for 12/13 June as the third round of the European series.
Adjustments necessary
Unfortunately, this will not happen - at least not in the foreseeable future. On request, an employee of the agency Creventic, which organizes the 24H Series, told us the reasons.
Peter Freij: "Logistical problems arose for the race on the Anneau du Rhin. Also, adjustments to the track are necessary, which is a real challenge. We weren't sure if we could solve them. That's why we added another race track to the calendar."
South of France instead of Alsace
The French contribution to the series, which is also popular with Swiss teams and drivers, will now take place on July 10 in the form of the 9H Circuit Paul Ricard at Le Castellet. This race distance is a first. Two Creventic 24-hour races were held at the French GP circuit in 2015 and 2016.
No Germany race yet either
Even the premiere at the Nürburgring will not happen in 2020. Although quite a few teams, drivers and manufacturers of the customer sports cars come from Germany, they have never had a home race.
The plan was to race on July 11/12 as part of a VLN event. For this, Creventic reinstated the 24-hour race of Portimão and, as the European final race, the half marathon of Imola.
