24H Nürburgring: Swiss TCR trio

In the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) of the VLN, Max Kruse Racing celebrated a double victory in the SP3T class with its VW Golf GTI TCR in both completed races. The car driven by Jasmin Preisig and Frédéric Yerly as well as Dutchman Tom Coronel narrowly retained the upper hand in each race.
Another example of the promotion of young talent
Preparations for the 24-hour race on the Nordschleife (June 3 to 6) are currently in full swing. Gustavo Xavier joins the team as the third Swiss driver.
In 2017, Xavier was one of three finalists in the Young Driver Challenge who completed their winning race entry in a Seat Cupra TCR. Last January, the Swiss driver with Brazilian roots finished second in the TCR class at the Dubai 24 Hours - just behind MKR team co-owner Benny Leuchter, who will make his move in the second Golf TCR in June.
For him, this is a dream come true.
Gustavo Xavier: "A few years ago I followed the race as a normal spectator. After it didn't work out the last two years, the time has finally come! The fact that I'm able to drive for such a renowned team as Max Kruse Racing in my first start right away makes things that much nicer."
The fourth driver alongside the Swiss trio is the German Matthias Wasel, who otherwise races with Leuchter and Andy Gülden in the NLS. In 2019, Wasel won the TCR classification in the VLN with Yerly.
Jasmin's unpaid bill
As the only woman on the team, Jasmin Preisig is eagerly awaiting her second outing at the Nürburgring 24 Hours.
Jasmin Preisig: "At my first start in 2019 (in another TCR team, Red.) we were unfortunately stopped by an engine failure after twelve hours. In 2021, of course, I want to go the full distance with Max Kruse Racing and my teammates Gustavo, Matthias and Frédéric on the most beautiful race track in the world. We'll really mix up the field."
Best conditions
For Frédéric Yerly, it will be the third marathon event and the first since 2017. He, too, still lacks a 24-hour class win in his collection.
Frédéric Yerly: "After two successful races as preparation, I feel well prepared for this adventure. We have a very good team-car-tire package and I know the class of my driver colleagues. The sister car is also mega manned, so we can hope for a great team result. One team, one goal!"
Max Kruse Racing's second Golf GTI TCR will start with the all-German line-up of Benny Leuchter, Andy Gülden, Nick Hancke and Christian Gebhardt. They will undoubtedly be the toughest class opponents for the three Swiss drivers.
