For ten years, Ronnie Kessel has managed the company founded by his father. The racing team celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2020.

Kessel Racing is a family affair. It all started with Loris Kessel, who laid the foundation stone of Racing Car SA in Grancia. The man from Ticino anticipated the development of the market for exclusive sports cars and founded Kessel in 1971.

Partnership with Ferrari
In parallel with his business activities, racing has always been an important part of the life of Loris Kessel, who made it as far as Formula 1 as a driver. Today, Kessel Racing is a renowned team, especially in GT and classic car championships.

After the all-too-early passing of his father (leukemia), Ronnie Kessel took over the management of the company in 2010. His inherited passion, shared with the entire team, is constantly being expanded in collaboration with Ferrari - a partnership with a historic character.

In a video published three years ago, Ronnie Kessel expresses his passion for motorsport.

Famous names
From the beginning, Kessel Racing competed with their sports cars, from the 355 to the current 488 models, in GT3 championships as well as in the Ferrari Challenge. Famous drivers such as Valentino Rossi compete under the flag of the Kessel family, which has increased its fame year after year thanks to many victories and title wins.

The future of Kessel Racing is also promising, with further ambitious projects planned for the racing division under Ronnie Kessel's leadership.

Standing on the podium with dad Loris, here at the GT Open 2008, is one of the best memories of Ronnie Kessel's life.

On your father's deathbed, you made him promise to carry on his company. Were you aware of your task?

Ronnie Kessel: "I knew this would be a big challenge for me. Getting the company to where it is now was the biggest and most difficult race I've ever run."

I'm sure your dad would be proud of you today....

Ronnie Kessel: "At the very beginning, my goal was to keep the company at the level it was at when I took over in 2010. The fact that we've managed to increase has not only to do with our capabilities, but also with the increased interest from customers in racing on safe tracks with our fast cars. I hope my father would be proud of that."

In the European Le Mans Series, the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo is among the frontrunners in the GT class. In 2020, Kessel Racing narrowly missed out on the title.

Kessel Racing predeveloped quite a few Ferrari GT3 models. How important was this business?

Ronnie Kessel: "This had enormous significance. Thanks to the production of the Ferrari 430 GT3 on a factory order and the trade in it, we came into contact with people and teams from all over the world. Today, in small Lugano, we offer a large platform for international clientele. This network is very important. If we hadn't been the reference team for the 430 GT3, we wouldn't be at this level as a team today."

What do you measure success by: sporting results or customer satisfaction?

Ronnie Kessel: "For a private Ferrari team like Kessel Racing, good results are very important. They reflect our performance capabilities. This in turn attracts new interested drivers. But most importantly, our gentleman drivers are happy and satisfied with the service we provide. The best reward for me then are the smiling faces when they step out of their cars and onto the podium."

Ronnie Kessel never misses an opportunity to climb the podium with his customers, like here in the fall of 2018 in the Ferrari Challenge.
